With over 30 years of expertise in Thrombosis and Haemostasis, Mark is an experienced leader bridging the gap between academic excellence and clinical innovation. He received a PhD degree at the University Medical Center Utrecht and a career spanning at high ranked institutions: UMC Utrecht and Synapse Research Institute. Mark spent 15 years as a Principal Investigator, driving breakthroughs in platelet physiology. His leadership expanded into the commercial sector as the former Head of the Clinical Laboratory at the Synapse Research Institute, which is at the forefront of the industry, delivering cutting-edge solutions for platelet function, coagulation, and fibrinolysis testing. As contributor to the global scientific community, Mark has authored over 175 peer-reviewed papers and mentored the next generation of scientists by co-promoting 15 PhD candidates. His deep roots in the field are further solidified by his service on the board of the Dutch Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (NVTH). Mark doesn’t just study blood, but he also builds the tools that redefine how we understand it. Mithridate is the next step in his development to translate 30 years of knowledge in thrombosis and hemostasis research to state of the art immune mediated therapies.
